1st of December, Berkeley, CA Dr. Kishore Sherchand: The First Meeting of the Executive Committee of Lumbini-Kapilvastu Day Movement, California State Committee was held on the auspicious occasion of 5th Lumbini-Kapilvastu day at Berkeley, CA. The meeting passed resolutions including to forward a letter to the “The One World-Trade Center” (also known as Freedom Tower) New York requesting to place a Buddha Statue as symbol of Peace in the center on behalf of the Lumbini – Kapilvastu Day Movement. The meeting also passed including the fulfillment of its committee members, and other important events such as Buddha Jayanti (Visaka Day) Observation in a collective way. Peace March Pass in San Francisco Downtown and other major cities, and honoring Buddhist scholars, social activists. etc. The meeting was chaired by the Ad hoc Committee Coordinator Kishore Sherchand. — in Berkeley, CA, United States. President Obama, this is the time to act for Peace and respect Peace Messenger

Dear President Obama,

Recently we highlighted these photos and the news when you visited Great Buddha in Japan and Hilari Clinton was placing Lotus flowers on a Buddha statue.

The Buddha is revered as a Messenger of Peace. He is also known as the Light of Asia who is actually the Light of the World as his message of peace and non-violence has become more relevant as the world is facing many violence problems today. The world today has become more violent than ever before. Therefore, it was decided to spread the messages of the Buddha all over the world by observing Lumbini-Kapilvastu Day every year.  Read the rest of this entry »
