DON’T ‘BUY’ THE ‘B.S.’

Posted by Ram Kumar Shrestha on May 24, 2012

WASHINGTON — White House Press Secretary Jay Carney had some advice for reporters on Wednesday when it comes to covering President Barack Obama’s record on spending: “Don’t buy into the B.S.”

During a press gaggle aboard Air Force One, Carney read aloud from a MarketWatch story that says “the biggest whopper” being told about Obama is that he has been on a reckless spending spree since taking office. The Tuesday article, titled “Obama Spending Binge Never Happened,” says it is patently false to claim that Obama has presided over a massive increase in federal spending. To the contrary, the article says, the reality is that spending is rising at its slowest pace since President Dwight Eisenhower brought the Korean War to an end in the 1950s. ‘Reporter’s Privilege’ Under Fire From Obama Administration Amid Broader War On Leaks

Posted by Ram Kumar Shrestha on May 19, 2012

By Michael Calderone and Dan Froomkin

RICHMOND, Va. — The Obama administration Friday morning continued its headlong attack on the right of reporters to protect their confidential sources in leak investigations.

Before a panel of the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, a Department of Justice lawyer argued that New York Times reporter James Risen should be forced to testify in the trial of former CIA agent Jeffrey Sterling, who is charged with leaking classified information to Risen about a botched plot against the Iranian government.

Rather than arguing the specifics of the case, DOJ appellate lawyer Robert A. Parker asserted that there is no reporter’s privilege when a journalist receives an illegal leak of national security secrets.

When Judge Robert Gregory asked Parker to explain why the public’s interest in a free press was outweighed by the specific circumstances in this case, Parker declined. Read the rest of this entry »

Osama Bin Laden Was Unarmed During Navy SEAL Raid, Says White House

Posted by Ram Kumar Shrestha on May 4, 2011

Firstly, better not to kill anybody even in the war if possible. Secondly, it could be better even for USA just to capture rather than to kill him for more possible information. Thirdly, even according to information provided Osama was not with arm. So he was killed and not captured? Lots of unnecessary debates and doubts in this case undoubtedly.

not release a full birth certificate is not because he was born abroad, but because he is hiding the identify of his true father.

Republican State Senator Sam Slom said the real issue in this debate is not over Obama’s citizenship, but his fathers’.

My particular point of view… is that [Obama] probably was born [in Hawaii] and that the real issue is not the birth certificate, but what’s on the birth certificate,‘ Slom said in an interview on New York’s WABC 770 AM radio station. “It could have to do with what his name is on the birth certificate, who is actually listed as his father, the citizenship of the father.”

In the 2008 presidential campaign the debate over Obama’s birthplace and his citizenship began, but then settles for a while. Recent months however have seen an increase in birther debates. Some allege Obama may have been born in Kenya, or even Indonesia. The schemes range.

Potential Republican presidential contender Donald Trump recently released his certificate and then challenged Obama to do the same. He followed his challenge up by sending private investigators to Hawaii to research the US president’s birth. Read the rest of this entry »
