The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have won an injunction in a French court preventing celebrity magazine Closer from publishing further paparazzi shots of the duchess sunbathing topless.

Mondadori France, Closer’s publishing company, will be fined €10,000 per day if it publishes any more photographs following Tuesday’s judgment or transmits them to any third party via email or any other means.

Mondadori, owned by former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi, will also have to pay €2,000 towards legal fees as part of the ruling following a civil action.

A court in Nanterre, near Paris, opened a separate criminal investigation on Tuesday into charges that Closer and a photographer breached the privacy of the duke and duchess by publishing the topless photos. Read the rest of this entry »

Prince Harry Labelled ‘Slave Master’ By Protesters On Tour Of Jamaica

Posted by Ram Kumar Shrestha on March 7, 2012

Prince Harry was labelled a “slave master” as he faced a small protest on his tour of Jamaica.

Harry was met with demonstrators as he arrived at the William Knibb Baptist church in Falmouth, Jamaica to pay tribute to Knibb, who campaigned against slavery.

Three demonstrators waved placards. One read: “Down with Harry the slave master”, while another demanded “reparations for 400 years of slavery” and asked: “Your Granny says slavery was not a crime, what do you think Harry?”.

Stephen Riviere, of the Hanover Rastafarian group, said: “The House of Windsor has made a fortune off the back of slavery and the Jamaican government should ditch the monarchy as soon as possible.”

Earlier Harry showed off his prowess on the firing range, and proved he is a top marksman. But he also changed his plans to join in an abseiling demonstration after the news that six British soldiers had been killed in a single incident in Afghanistan.

Later Harry, 27, laughed as nearby geese began clucking before the William Knibb Memorial High School choir performed a comic song about Jamaican food. Read the rest of this entry »

Jamaican PM Portia Simpson Miller ‘Would Accept’ British Apology For Slavery

Posted by Ram Kumar Shrestha on March 6, 2012

Jamaica’s prime minister has said she would accept a British apology over the evils of slavery ahead of Prince Harry’s visit to the Caribbean island.

Portia Simpson Miller, who plans to replace the Queen as head of state with a Jamaican, stated that the practice was “wicked and brutal” and no race should have been subjected to it.

The leader of the Caribbean country, which celebrates 50 years of independence from Britain during 2012, also said its people should take “full charge of our destiny” and sever ties with the British monarchy.

In an interview with the BBC Ms Simpson Miller said: “No race should have been subjected to what out ancestors were subjected to.

“If Britain wishes to apologise, fine with us, no problem at all.”

Tens of thousands of Africans were shipped to Jamaica from the 17th to early 19th centuries to work on plantations that made their British owners incredibly wealthy.

But the newly elected politician said she was not calling for any form of compensation from Britain.

She repeated her famous Jamaican patois phrase delivered during her inauguration speech at the start of the year that “I think time come” over proposed changes to who was the country’s head of state.

Simpson Miller, who will today have lunch with Harry who is on a Diamond Jubilee tour of the Caribbean, said: “We came on a long journey, from slavery to adult suffrage to our independence. Read the rest of this entry »

What Really Happened Between Harry And Pippa At The Wedding? (PICTURES)

Posted by Ram Kumar Shrestha on November 16, 2011

Photographs of what we all suspected from the Royal Wedding have emerged, courtesy of photographer Alison Jackson.

In her intimate portraits of the Royal Wedding day, we can see a flirtatious Prince Harry and a coquettish Pippa Middleton having a romantic liason after the reception.

We can even catch a glimpse of Pippa protecting her modesty with one of Prince Harry’s military jackets after a night of passion in Buckingham Palace.

Of course, they actually came from the imagination of Alison Jackson, who specialises in celebrity spoofs. Still, it’s not a huge stretch of the imagination.

The photographs of the world’s most famous bridesmaid were taken to celebrate the release of the film, Bridesmaids, which is available now on Blu-ray Triple Play and DVD from Universal Pictures.

connections to senior royals have been targeted and that the extent of the hacking within royal circles was much more widespread than originally thought.

It came as the former wife of George Best said she believed the footballer’s death had been hastened by alleged hacking thoughout the early part of the decade.

The initial investigation into phone hacking identified only five victims –Prince WilliamPrince Harry and three royal aides – who were targeted by the private investigator Glenn Mulcaire and the News of the World’s royal editor, Clive Goodman.

Royal aides have confirmed that the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall have recently been approached by the police in connection with the latest investigation.

But it is now believed that Mulcaire and Goodman also accessed the voicemails of many more royal officials and members of the Royal Family together with a wide circle of their family and friends.

Earlier this month, Guy Pelly, a close friend of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry, launched a civil case against the News of the World over allegations of phone hacking.

It is understood that the police have recently contacted many royal officials to inform them that their voicemails were intercepted. Read the rest of this entry »

DIANA’S RING SEALS PRINCE WILLIAM’S MARRIAGE PLANS

Posted by Ram Kumar Shrestha on November 17, 2010

LONDON — Years of fevered anticipation and premature speculation ended on Tuesday morning when Prince William, the heir to the heir to the British throne, said that, yes, he did plan to marry his girlfriend of many years, Kate Middleton.
In a brief statement, William’s father, Prince Charles, said that he was “delighted” to announce the engagement of William and Miss Middleton, both 28, and that they would be married next spring or summer.
“Prince William has informed the queen and other close members of his family,” the statement said. “Prince William has also sought the permission of Miss Middleton’s father.”
The statement added that the couple would live in north Wales, where William works as a search-and-rescue helicopter pilot for the Royal Air Force. The announcement ends the long and winding “Will he or won’t he?” saga that has provided years of diversion for royal enthusiasts and helped keep the royal-focused gossip industry afloat. It also renders obsolete Miss Middleton’s sometime tabloid nickname, “Waity Katie,” a reference to the notion that she has supposedly been waiting around for Prince William to propose.

The Taking of Prince Harry – The Taking of Prince Harry

Posted by Ram Kumar Shrestha on October 22, 2010

A new drama-documentary featuring a mock Afghan kidnapping of Prince Harry is set to debut on UK TV tonight despite infuriating British military officials, according to reports.

London’s Channel 4 will air “The Taking of Prince Harry,” which features actor Sebastian Reid as the 26-year-old prince. In one scene, Reid depicts Harry being held by Taliban militants, while in another, an unloaded gun is pointed in his face while the trigger is pulled.

Though Sir Jock Stirrup, the head of Britain’s armed forces, reportedly sent a written plea requesting the program be dropped, Channel 4 officials say the broadcast will go ahead as planned. “What this program does is ask, in a rather serious way, whether we’re doing enough to protect…high value targets when they go out there to the front,” Hamish Mykura, Channel 4’s head of documentaries, told CBS.

As for Harry, who served in Afghanistan for 10 weeks in 2008, he is said to be amused by the program, though more concerned about the actor portraying him than its overall content.  [Huffington Post First Posted: 10-21-10 09:51 PM]
