Mondadori, owned by former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi, will also have to pay €2,000 towards legal fees as part of the ruling following a civil action.

Falkland Islands: Argentina Takes Dispute To United Nations

Posted by Ram Kumar Shrestha on February 8, 2012

Argentina is to make a formal complaint to the United Nations Security Council after accusing Britain of “militarising” their long dispute over the Falkland Islands.

President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner said the UK’s decision to send one of its most modern navy warships to the South Atlantic and to post the Duke of Cambridge on military duty in the region posed a risk to “international security”.

Her announcement comes amid simmering tensions between London and Buenos Aires in the run-up to the 30th anniversary of the 1982 Falklands war, which saw Argentinian forces invade the archipelago in a row over its sovereignty.

Speaking to an audience including Falkland war veterans and other politicians at Argentina’s presidential residence yesterday, Ms Kirchner said: “I have instructed our chancellor to present formally to the Security Council of the United Nations and before the General Assembly of the United Nations this militarisation of the South Atlantic which implies a great risk for international security.” Read the rest of this entry »

After 60 years of loyal service to the nation and Commonwealth, the Queen celebrates her Diamond Jubilee on Monday.

For a remarkable six decades she has remained a steadfast figure for the British public as head of state.

The sovereign has come to represent stability and continuity with her many years on the throne earning her the respect of leaders across the world.

Kate Middleton: The Best YouTube Spoofs (VIDEO)

Posted by Ram Kumar Shrestha on January 9, 2012

Happy birthday, Kate! (We can call you that, right?)

Yes, The Artist Formerly Known As Kate Middleton – and now as The Duchess Of Cambridge – turns 30 today. And what better way to celebrate than to slip into size zero lingerie and pour champagne over poor people compile a bunch of the silliest, funniest spoof videos about her. We’re sure it’s what she’d want us to do.

Unfortunately due to embedding restrictions, we can’t include the Saturday Night Live skit in which Kate (played by Anne Hathaway) meets the Queen and Prince Philip for the first time. But we highly recommend you click here to watch it.

After you’ve watched all the videos below, of course.

They include the marvellous Robin Cooper (aka Robert Popper)’s stint as a royal correspondant, Barbershopera‘s ode to the royal bride, a very funny Harry Potter spoof from a Dutch TV show (no, really) – and of course, the one that made it acceptable to take the mick out of Kate et al in the first place: the T-Mobile Royal Wedding Dance video.

Enjoy, peasants!

Argentina Brands Prince William’s Posting To Falkland Islands A ‘Provocative’ Act

Posted by Ram Kumar Shrestha on November 12, 2011

The Duke of Cambridge’s posting to the Falkland Islands has been branded a “provocative act” in Argentina.

William, a Flight Lieutenant with the RAF, will be deployed to the remote outcrop in the South Atlantic for six weeks to fly search and rescue helicopter missions next year.

But Argentine official Sebastian Brugo Marco said the country could not ignore the “political” implications of his move, which comes shortly before the 30th anniversary of Argentina’s defeat in the Falklands War.

Mr Brugo Marco, who has responsibility for the South Atlantic territory, told Argentine newspaper La Nacion: “It is one more provocative act that shows Britain’s military presence in a zone of peace where there is no armed conflict.”

Argentina still claims sovereignty over the islands, which it refers to as Las Malvinas. “One cannot ignore the political content of this military operation bearing in mind that the prince forms part of the Royal Family,” Mr Brugo Marco added.

Zara Phillips wedding: Queen’s eldest granddaughter goes from renegade royal to Mike Tindall’s housewife

Posted by Ram Kumar Shrestha on July 30, 2011

As the Queen’s eldest granddaughter and 13th in line to the throne she could have led a life of pomp and privilege before marrying some wealthy foreign prince or a millionaire magnate.

But when Zara Anne Elizabeth Phillips MBE walks down the aisle after tying the knot in Edinburgh today she will be plain Mrs Mike Tindall – housewife, horsewoman and homebody.

And that’s just how this fiercely independent young woman has always wanted it to be. For Zara, 30, is the reluctant princess who ripped up the rule book of her ancestors and snubbed her nose at stuffy protocol.

At 17 she flaunted her tongue piercing at her uncle Charlie’s 50th birthday party.

Two years later she hired a waiter in a leather thong to serve drinks to pals as they giggled over sex toys at an Ann Summers party.

And the whole nation knew when her first serious relationship fell apart because Zara was seen brawling in the street, punching and kicking her man.

connections to senior royals have been targeted and that the extent of the hacking within royal circles was much more widespread than originally thought.

It came as the former wife of George Best said she believed the footballer’s death had been hastened by alleged hacking thoughout the early part of the decade.

The initial investigation into phone hacking identified only five victims –Prince WilliamPrince Harry and three royal aides – who were targeted by the private investigator Glenn Mulcaire and the News of the World’s royal editor, Clive Goodman.

Royal aides have confirmed that the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall have recently been approached by the police in connection with the latest investigation.

But it is now believed that Mulcaire and Goodman also accessed the voicemails of many more royal officials and members of the Royal Family together with a wide circle of their family and friends.

Earlier this month, Guy Pelly, a close friend of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry, launched a civil case against the News of the World over allegations of phone hacking.

It is understood that the police have recently contacted many royal officials to inform them that their voicemails were intercepted. Read the rest of this entry »

boost the country’s commercial interests abroad.

By , Royal Correspondent

Following the success of their recent tour of North America, where the couple carried several engagements in Los Angeles to highlight British business, Prince William and the Duchess will consider proposals by the Foreign Office of overseas tours aimed at promoting British firms.

A royal aide said: “It is not something that William or Catherine had done before LA, but they have genuinely enjoyed being ambassadors for the UK and flying the flag for British business in America, and it is definitely something they will start to do more of.

“It will not always be about just going to realms in the future. They will now start to visit countries of strategic importance to the United Kingdom with the purpose of meeting the Foreign Office’s commercial objectives. Just as the Prince of Wales regularly meets with corporate and environmental leaders during his overseas tours to highlight British trade and investments, so the couple will begin to emulate this approach through the prism of their own interests.” Read the rest of this entry »

cousin Prince William and Kate Middleton.

The silk Philip Treacy creation has been compared to antlers, a toilet seat and a pretzel, and has been used to create photo montages of scores of unlikely scenarios on the internet.

Beatrice has taken the joke in her stride and put the hat on sale for charity. Proceeds will go to Unicef and Children in Crisis.

With the auction close to its Sunday closing, 39 bidders were competing for the hat, described on eBay as a “unique sculptural celebratory headpiece”.

One of the initial bidders was the Dragons’ Den star Duncan Bannatyne, who offered £5,000 for the creation. At 3.30pm on Saturday the bidding had reached £80,100.01.

On the eBay page the Princess has commented: “I’ve been amazed by the amount of attention the hat has attracted. Read the rest of this entry »
