Charlie Bit My Finger: New App Could Make Parents Millionaires After Success Of YouTube Clip

Posted by Ram Kumar Shrestha on March 12, 2012

A cheeky baby who shot to fame for biting his big brother’s finger could make his parents millionaires thanks to a new app.

Charlie Davies-Carr became an online celebrity after footage of him chomping on brother Harry’s finger went viral.

Harry, who utters the immortal line: “Charlie bit my finger”, co-stars in the 56-second clip, which has now been viewed more than 400 million times.

It was shot in 2007 at the family home in Buckinghamshire and was intended for the boys’ godfather, who lives in America.

Now the twosome’s efforts have resulted in their father Howard being taken on by Viral Spiral, a management company that capitalises on social media successes.

An iPhone app which allows users to upload pictures of themselves having their digits gnawed by Charlie is in the works, as is a series of children’s books and an animated TV series, The Sun reported. Read the rest of this entry »

Dubai Fountains Synchronized With Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You”

Posted by Ram Kumar Shrestha on February 14, 2012

If might not be the first thing you’d think of when someone says “moving tribute to Whitney Houston” but the Dubai Fountain dancing to the tune of her classic love song I Will Always Love You really is rather wonderful.

Choreographed by students at the nearby English College Dubai, the world famous attraction in the middle of the 30-acre manmade Burj Khalifa Lake in downtown Dubai used all of its 6,600 lights and 25 coloured projectors to create the UAE’s final farewell to the great singer.

Capable of blasting 22,000 gallons (83,000 litres) of water into the air at any one time, the Dubai Fountain is a serious piece of kit. Then again, what did you expect from a water feature that cost $218 million to produce back in 2009?

And just to remind you of Whitney singing it herself, here’s the final scene of The Bodyguard, complete with Kevin Costner giving her a smooch. Warning: contains spoilers. For The Bodyguard (Huffington Post)

Kate Middleton: The Best YouTube Spoofs (VIDEO)

Posted by Ram Kumar Shrestha on January 9, 2012

Happy birthday, Kate! (We can call you that, right?)

Yes, The Artist Formerly Known As Kate Middleton – and now as The Duchess Of Cambridge – turns 30 today. And what better way to celebrate than to slip into size zero lingerie and pour champagne over poor people compile a bunch of the silliest, funniest spoof videos about her. We’re sure it’s what she’d want us to do.

Unfortunately due to embedding restrictions, we can’t include the Saturday Night Live skit in which Kate (played by Anne Hathaway) meets the Queen and Prince Philip for the first time. But we highly recommend you click here to watch it.

After you’ve watched all the videos below, of course.

They include the marvellous Robin Cooper (aka Robert Popper)’s stint as a royal correspondant, Barbershopera‘s ode to the royal bride, a very funny Harry Potter spoof from a Dutch TV show (no, really) – and of course, the one that made it acceptable to take the mick out of Kate et al in the first place: the T-Mobile Royal Wedding Dance video.

Enjoy, peasants!

Number One Super Guy: Hong Kong Footballer Scores Incredible Scorpion Kick Own Goal (Video)

Posted by Ram Kumar Shrestha on December 20, 2011

Wow! And this is also one of the best goal: http://ramkshrestha.wordpress.com/2011/12/04/nepal-vs-bangladesh-highlights-saff-championship-2011/

No-one’s ever proud of scoring an own goal – but if you’re ever going to score one, you better pray it’s as magnificent as this glorious scorpion kick number we’ve got for you below.

Pulled off by 31-year-old Nigerian defender Festus Baise for Hong Kong’s Citizen AA team, if it had been seen on the other side of the pitch we’d be looking at a contender for goal of the year.

A shame then that Baise was aiming for a clearance rather than the back of his own net, but hey, you can’t have it all – and at least his team eventually won, a 3-2 final score against Sun Hei making this epic cock-up an amusing anecdote rather than a career-ending blunder.

But as this is such a doozy, it would be criminal not to offer up a round-up of other astonishing own goals, right? Well, exactly… so after checking out his fancy footwork, marvel at a dozen or so other “beauties” afterwards…

The World’s Oldest Dog, Pusuke, Dies In Japan At The Age Of 26 (Pictures)

Posted by Ram Kumar Shrestha on December 8, 2011

Living to the grand ol’ age of 26 years old, Pusuke has, as they say, had a very good innings.

Working out at a whopping 125 years old in dog years, the much-loved fluffy tan Shiba mix passed away peacefully on Monday after falling ill and refusing to eat his food.

His owner, Yumiko Shinohara, told her local paperShimotsuke Shimbun: “I’m so sad… I would like to tell him that I appreciate he lived a long healthy life.”

Recognised for just one year as the owner of the prestigious oldest living dog title, the Guinness World Record will now pass onto a new (old) dog, with the seemingly-unbeatable record of oldest dog ever still in the paws of an Australian cattle dog called Bluey who died in 1939.

Bluey’s age? 29 years, 6 months and 12 days. Close, Pusuke, but no cigar.

Earlier this year, back in April, the world’s oldest man also died. His name was Walter Breuning, and he lived 114 years old – meaning that Pusuke kind-of-sorta beat him. In a way. A way that in no way counts, that is.
