But Britain’s leading men remain at the top of the country’s wealthiest screen stars. Despite the Harry Potter film franchise coming to an end, its star Daniel Radcliffe remains the richest young actor.

Britain’s Got Talent And The Voice Go Head To Head As BBC And ITV Spark Ratings War

Posted by Ram Kumar Shrestha on March 24, 2012

War between two big:

The BBC and ITV are set for a ratings war for Saturday night supremacy when their respective talent shows go head-to-head in the battle for viewers.

The Voice makes its debut at 7pm tonight with the return of Britain’s Got Talent an hour later at 8pm – meaning the shows will overlap for 20 minutes.

It had been feared they would crossover for as long as 50 minutes and the exact timings have been a source of tension since it emerged both channels were launching their shows on the same night.

BBC bosses accused ITV of trying to sabotage the debut of their new series as BGT normally launched around three weeks later in the year.

However ITV claimed a clash was foreseeable if the BBC opted to launch a Saturday evening series in the spring.

The departure of Alesha Dixon from the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing to join the BGT panel alongside Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and David Walliams, did not improve relations and neither did the suggestion by The Voice’s co-host Reggie Yates that his show was “more credible” than other talent shows. Justin Bieber, the platinum-selling teen pop sensation, will celebrate his 18th birthday tomorrow, having achieved more in his childhood than most singers accomplish in a lifetime.

The Canadian star, who only started uploading videos of himself performing melodies in his bedroom five years ago, has so far released two number one albums, becoming the first artist to have seven songs from a debut album chart on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

He was barely into his teens when he was discovered via You Tube by talent agent Scooter Braun, who, impressed with what he saw, showed Bieber to Usher, along with Island Def Jam chairman LA Reid, who quickly signed the 15-year-old heartthrob to a recording contract.

Since then he’s racked up 57 music awards, including a Brit for Best International Breakthrough Act and four MTV European Music Awards. Simon Cowell Coy Over Britney Spears X Factor USA Rumours

Posted by Ram Kumar Shrestha on February 23, 2012

Simon Cowell is playing it coy about rumours that Fergie, Britney Spears and Janet Jackson are being considered for the US version of The X Factor.

Two judges’ spots on the Fox TV singing contest opened up when Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger left after the first season.

Cowell said that two women will replace them, but he declined to comment on who is being considered.

“There’s been a load of speculation, some true, some not true,” Cowell said.

He added that he had waited to see who was interested enough to ask about joining the show before focusing on the search.

Judge Antonio “LA” Reid confirmed there had been discussions about adding Whitney Houston but no contact was made with her. Whitney died on February 11. Read the rest of this entry »

Brit Awards 2012: Adele Flips Finger, Her Fans Furious, James Corden Upset… Brits Controversy!

Posted by Ram Kumar Shrestha on February 22, 2012

Should Adele have been cut off at the Brit Awards?

In a year where no one bared their bottom at another performer, no buckets of water were thrown over VIP politicians and, sadly, the host was so polite as to be almost strait-jacketed in his repartee, all the controversy this year’s Brits can muster is over an acceptance speech being cut short.

Adele had just been presented with the biggest award of the night, for Best British Album, for her world-conquering 21, and had barely begun to make her emotional thank you speech – she was 12 seconds into it – when host James Corden cut her short with a “I’m sorry, I can’t believe I have to do this…” and hustled her off the stage.

Adele responded with a swift finger gesture, which she later apologised for, saying it was “for the suits, not her fans”.

It wasn’t Corden’s fault, and he sounded just as sorry as Adele afterwards. Read the rest of this entry »

Brit Awards 2012: Winners In Full – Adele, Ed Sheeran Big Winners, Rihanna, One Direction, Blur Also Win Brits

Posted by Ram Kumar Shrestha on February 21, 2012

Adele has proved that her Grammy haul 10 days ago was no lucky fluke, winning two of the major awards at this year’s Brit Awards.

The London singer was straight off the mark, winning the first Brit of the night – for British Female Solo Artist, and then capped the night with the award for Best British Album, for 21.

The talent behind the record-breaking album said nothing made her prouder than to win the award for Best Album, which she received from a pleasantly emotional George Michael.

She was given her first gong by Kylie Minogue, whom Adele said made “her feel like a drag artist”, because of their height difference, particularly as Adele was looking splendidly glamorous in heels.

She said, “It’s been an amazing year,” and thanked her record company for “letting me be the artist I’ve always wanted to be”. She also thanked “all the girls out there”.

Ed Sheeran, the most nominated artist of the night with four nods, picked up the Award for Best British Male Solo Artist, and also Best British Breakthrough Act. Read the rest of this entry »

Grammy Awards 2012: Adele Overcome As She Wins Six Awards From Six Nominations

Posted by Ram Kumar Shrestha on February 13, 2012

Great! Congratulation!

Adele has captured six Grammys at a ceremony that had the difficult task of celebrating music’s best while mourning the loss of one of their greatest, Whitney Houston.

Houston’s death on the eve of the awards forced a delicate balance between the exuberance of the show’s winners and recognition of the tragedy only 24 hours earlier.

Adele, who owned the year’s best-selling album with21, which won the album of the year award, was triumphant in her first performance since vocal cord surgery forced the cancellation of a tour and months of vocal rest.

Her peers also gave her a lengthy welcome-back standing ovation after she hit the high notes again on her 2011 smash-hit Rolling in the Deep.

The song also won her two of the night’s most prestigious awards, record of the year and song of the year, while Someone Like You won for best pop vocal performance. Read the rest of this entry »
