With his notoriously critical reputation, Cowell is likened to TV personalities such as Judith Sheindlin and Anne Robinson. Cowell also appeared on the one-off World Idol programme in 2003, where it became clear that each country’s version of the Idol had attempted to come up with its own “Simon Cowell” type personality. In 2003, Cowell placed No 33 on Channel 4‘s list of the all-time 100 Worst Britons. Cowell’s S Records signed the top two finishers of the first season of Pop IdolWill Young and Gareth Gates, both of whom went on to have No 1 UK hits. Efforts begun in 2001 materialised in 2004, when Cowell returned to his group manufacturing roots with his latest brainchild, the internationally successful operatic pop group Il Divo, consisting of three opera singers and one pop singer of four different nationalities. Inspired by the success of Il Divo, Simon created a child version, Angelis, beating competition from many similar groups emerging at Christmas 2006.

On 11 January 2010, Cowell’s exit from American Idol was made official. The 2010 season was Cowell’s last on the show. It was also announced that FOX had acquired the rights to The X Factor USA, an American version of Cowell’s popular British show, The X Factor, which began in September 2011.

Cheryl Cole

Cheryl Cole aims to have a christmas number one in the literary charts – she is releasing her tell-all memoir later this year.

The singer’s autobiography will chart her ten-year assault on the pop charts after shooting to fame on Popstars: The Rivals with Girls Aloud, and will also document her romance heartbreak with ex-husband Ashley Cole and her infamous axing from the US X Factor.

The book will be released in October, and Harper’s Non-Fiction publisher Carole Tonkinson says: “Cheryl’s an amazing woman. We’re going to do everything in our power to make this the Christmas No1.”

If it’s a success, perhaps Cheryl’s next literary outing will be penning a love advice book. Her Girls Aloud bandmate Sarah Harding has reportedly sought out Cheryl’s advice about getting back with her former fiance Tom Crane. The blonde beauty split up with the DJ last year, but is said to be giving it another shot after spending some time with him in Ibiza this week.

A source tells The Mirror: “Cheryl has been speaking regularly to Sarah about getting back with Tom. She has always thought Tom was a good influence on Sarah and thinks they are destined to be together.”

Posted by Ram Kumar Shrestha on April 19, 2012

Comment: Again controversial message by her:

Feisty Tulisa Contostavlos was never likely to go into hiding after her sex tape shame and she now admits the scandal has made her stronger than ever.

Just a month after the explicit footage hit the web, the defiant X Factor judge has told fans she has no regrets over the incident.

She said: “I could sit all day long saying I wish I’d never done this or met that person but at the end of the day, with the position I’m in, I can’t exactly complain.

“Everything’s taken me to the place that I’m in and made me the person I am. It just makes you stronger, doesn’t it?”

Tulisa’s world was shaken when a clip of her performing a sex act on her ex-boyfriend Justin Edwards leaked online, but the N-Dubz singer has well and truly brushed off the controversy – even hinting she has been signed up for another series of The X Factor. Read the rest of this entry »

Tulisa Contostavlos Sex Tape? Video Claims To Show X Factor Judge Performing Oral Sex

Posted by Ram Kumar Shrestha on March 19, 2012

A tape allegedly showing X Factor Judge Tulisa Contostavlos performing oral sex on an unidentified man has emerged online.

The video was featured on several websites, including one called NotTulisa, but it has since been taken down.

A cached version however remains, with the following text: “Not Tulisa and an ex-boyfriend recorded themselves having sex in a public place, shot backstage at a music gig, on his Blackberry.

“This crystal-clear movie is in no way is a hidden camera! Just look at Not Tulisa playing to the camera, smiling and laughing… the naughty little minx!

“The fact it is filmed in a PUBLIC PLACE makes the whole sex act even more risky, as anyone could have been watching or taking pictures.” Read the rest of this entry »

Britney Spears In Final Talks To Be New ‘X Factor’ Judge

Posted by Ram Kumar Shrestha on March 9, 2012

Long after her “Mickey Mouse Club” days, is Britney Spears finally headed back to TV? The pop superstar is reportedly nearing a deal to become a new judge on Simon Cowell’s “The X Factor,” The Hollywood Reporter revealed.

According to a THR inside source, Spears’ fianceJason Trawick is negotiating the final contract, which could be signed as soon as next week.

In January, “The X Factor” axed judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger and host Steve Jones from the Fox singing competition series.

If Spears joins Cowell and the only other remaining judge, LA Reid at the judges’ table, that leaves one more seat to fill for Season 2 of the struggling singing competition. LeAnn Rimes is reportedly in talks to judge “The X Factor,” while Janet Jackson has officially declined her participation in the show.

Scherzinger recently told “Access Hollywood” that she was completely committed to the showduring Season 1. “Well, all I know is that I gave 110 percent to that show,” she said. “I know everybody’s talking about it. They’re saying good, bad, they love me or hate me, but the one thing you can’t say is that I didn’t give it my all.” Read the rest of this entry »

Cheryl Cole Is A Grecian Goddess At Royal Charity Bash, Denying ‘X Factor’ Return

Posted by Ram Kumar Shrestha on February 24, 2012

Cheryl Cole is so rarely photographed these days that when new pics land on our desk, we do a little dance of excitement.

And isn’t this latest set an absolute visual treat for a Friday afternoon.

La Cole went all Grecian goddess on our asses as she turned up for the Prince’s Trust Invest In Futures dinner at the Savoy Hotel last night.

Wearing a white floor-length Greek-style dress, the former X Factor judge looked glowing at the bash hosted by the Prince of Wales.

The pair were deep in conversation as she arrived at the dinner, giving us the perfect opportunity to have a little caption competition on this picture – who knew Charles was such a comedian? Read the rest of this entry »

Simon Cowell Coy Over Britney Spears X Factor USA Rumours

Posted by Ram Kumar Shrestha on February 23, 2012

Simon Cowell is playing it coy about rumours that Fergie, Britney Spears and Janet Jackson are being considered for the US version of The X Factor.

Two judges’ spots on the Fox TV singing contest opened up when Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger left after the first season.

Cowell said that two women will replace them, but he declined to comment on who is being considered.

“There’s been a load of speculation, some true, some not true,” Cowell said.

He added that he had waited to see who was interested enough to ask about joining the show before focusing on the search.

Judge Antonio “LA” Reid confirmed there had been discussions about adding Whitney Houston but no contact was made with her. Whitney died on February 11. Read the rest of this entry »

Posted by Ram Kumar Shrestha on February 6, 2012

Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole was sensationally dumped just days into the US version of The X Factorbut it seems the star could be set to make a triumphant return to the UK series after Simon Cowell kicked off a campaign to get her back on the judging panel.

According to a report, Kelly Rowland is facing the axe after her performance “faded” towards the end of the last series and Simon is thought to be more determined than ever to make a success of the show after hostSteve Jones and judges Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul were given the chop from the American arm of the franchise last week.

Cheryl Cole Makes Tongue-In-Cheek Dig At Simon Cowell After Topping Judging Poll

Posted by Ram Kumar Shrestha on January 20, 2012

No need to fight further more dear – work together:

We’ve not seen much of Cheryl Cole recently, so-much-so we were beginning to think she’d dropped off the face of the earth.

But Chez has reminded everyone she’s still very much around by making a tongue-in-cheek dig at old boss Simon Cowell.

Cheryl proved she’s obviously now able to laugh about the whole X Factor USA debacle as she joked about her short-lived judging stint on Twitter.

In a tweet to Simon, the singer posted a link to a Virgin Media TV Awards poll that showed her having been voted the Best Judge for her X Factor USA role.

@CherylCole  She said: “Oh my! And all in a couple days work, LOVE this @SimonCowell.”

“Oh my!” And all in a couple days work, LOVE this @SimonCowellhttp://t.co/VHWJWKjk http://t.co/Iln484yR

Who knew she had such a sense of humour?

The pair were rumoured to have recently made up, despite Cheryl turning down Simon’s offer of a role on Britain’s Got Talent.

But they’re both yet to follow each other on Twitter and we all know that being pals on the internet is the real testament of friendship…

Simon Cowell, The Messiah: Quarter Children Think X Factor Boss Born On Christmas Day

Posted by Ram Kumar Shrestha on December 21, 2011

One in four children think Christmas Day celebratesSimon Cowell‘s birthday, while nearly a quarter think God was born in Essex, a survey has found.

The same number of five to seven-year-olds also thought Jesus was born either at 10 Downing Street or Buckingham Palace, with more than a third not even knowing whose birthday it is on Christmas Eve.

The survey, conducted by Woolworths.co.uk, found children’s perception of Christmas populated with celebrities. More than a third (35%) of the youngsters could not name a single one of Father Christmas’ reindeer. Of the children questioned, 12% thought singer Tulisa was the name of a reindeer. Other names suggested were:

And they fared no better when it came to identifying the three wise men, either. More than a third thought Gary BarlowMark Wright from reality show The Only Way Is Essex (TOWIE) and Prince Charles were the gift-bearing visitors in the nativity scene. In a sign of the times, 30% presumed these “wise men” heard about the birth of Jesus through Facebook.

Other interesting facts included 28% thinking Lapland was a nightclub and 35% never having heard of Rudolph before.

Woolworths spokesperson said: “Christmas is such a special and magical time of year for children, so it’s surprising that there is so much confusion going around.

“Obviously Christmas means different things for different families but it’s a big shock that 35% don’t even know who Rudolph is.

“We’re not saying that celebrity culture has ruined the traditions of Christmas but from these results it certainly seems to have had an effect on how children think about the big day!”

Little Mix snub X Factor party to look glossy on early morning TV – good girls or just boring?

Posted by Ram Kumar Shrestha on December 12, 2011

Yesterday’s dramatic X Factor final may have been the biggest night of Little Mix’s lives, but the only thing on the girls’ minds following the show was heading home to bed.

Rather than staying up and partying the night away with Marcus Collins and the rest of the finalists, Little Mix said goodbye to mentor Tulisa Contostavlos in her dressing room before heading back to their hotel rooms and clambering between the sheets.

With Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards being 18 and Jesy Nelson and Leigh-Anne Pinnock a little older at 20, we expected to see the girls looking a little worse for wear on morning television today.

Cheryl Cole finds love on the front line: Star to call hunky British soldier she met in Afghanistan

Posted by Ram Kumar Shrestha on September 21, 2011

CHERYL Cole has returned from Afghanistan with a twinkle in her eye – after taking a shine to a hunky British soldier.

The Girls Aloud star revealed she swapped numbers with the “gorgeous” young corporal during her four-day, morale-boosting trip to Helmand Province.

And she says she plans to give him a call later this week.

Cheryl, 28, admits she was charmed after he cheekily chatted her up during a training run.

Describing her time in Camp Bastion as “amazing”, the former X Factor judge said: “I can’t explain how glad I am that I went. It was a real privilege.”

She admitted “Not only are the soldiers incredibly brave, a few were also incredibly cute.

“I actually came back with a phone number from one lad… although I think his talking to me was a dare. He started chatting to me after I’d been shot at during a training exercise.

“Obviously it wasn’t real ammunition but it was still terrifying. Anyway, I think I am going to call him this week and we’ll see what happens. I’m sure he’s not expecting me to ring but that’s why it’ll be funny – and that’s why I’m going to do it.”

Geordie Cheryl, who was divorced from love cheat Chelsea footballer Ashley last year, is realistic about the chances of any lasting romance. Read the rest of this entry »
