Kiss And Tell Girls – Do They Have Souls? (PHOTOS)

Posted by Ram Kumar Shrestha on October 31, 2011

As Jeremy Clarkson’s ex-wife Alex Hall attempts to construct a logical explanation for why she’s putting on paper her intimate dealings with a man whose right to privacy she “respected”, we examine the morals of kiss and tell girls.

This much-chastised breed of (usually) attractive women are often criticised for selling off their incriminating text messages, and for daring to look sexy while they do it.

The men whose names are dragged into this public sphere by allegations of romance and betrayal often remain our public heroes, while we turn on the temptresses like a pack of righteous wolves.

You could be mistaken for thinking all kiss-and-tells are constructed by predatory fame-hungry women, all part of their pursuit for cold hard cash and their time in the spotlight.

The reality is often different.

Sometimes kissing-n-telling may be an all-too-human reaction to a nasty situation. Some women (and men) take their revenge when scorned by cutting up their lover’s shirts. Others, who have the power to expose someone who is ordinarily seen as holier than though, take a different type of revenge – it’s effortless, destructive and financially beneficial – it’s easy to see how it lures so many women into its web.

Prince Charles ‘Offered Veto’ Over 12 Government Bills

Posted by Ram Kumar Shrestha on October 31, 2011

Prince Charles has been offered a veto over 12 government bills since 2005 because of a legislative loophole, according to reports.

The Guardian reports a constitutional oddity means the Prince can shoot down any legislation that impacts on his private interests, saying: “Ministers from six departments have sought the Prince of Wales’ consent to draft bills on everything from road safety to gambling and the London Olympics”.

Libeal Democrat MP Andrew George said people will be “astonished” over the powers: “If princes and paupers are to live as equals in a modern Britain, anyone who enjoys exceptional influence or veto should exercise it with complete transparency.

“The duchy asserts it is merely a private estate. Most people will be astonished to learn that it appears to have effective powers of veto over the Government.”

Abdel-Rahim Al-Keeb Named Libya’s New Prime Minister

Posted by Ram Kumar Shrestha on October 31, 2011

TRIPOLI, Libya (AP) — Libya’s interim leadership has chosen an electronics engineer from Tripoli as the country’s new prime minister.

Abdel-Rahim al-Keeb was chosen Monday by 51 members of the National Transitional Council and will appoint a new Cabinet in coming days. The new government is to run Libya in the coming months and to pave the way for general elections.

Jalal el-Gallal, an NTC spokesman, says al-Keeb received 26 votes. He says the NTC wanted to form a new interim government after the fall of Moammar Gadhafi because its initial members started out as an impromptu group.

The relatively quick victory in Libya represented a major boost for a Cold War alliance bogged down in a 10-year war in Afghanistan, a 12-year mission in Kosovo and the seemingly never-ending anti-piracy operation off the Somali coastline.

The operation’s critics – including Russia, China and the African Union – have argued that NATO misused the limited U.N. resolution imposing a no-fly zone and authorizing the protection of civilians as a pretext to promote regime change.

Russia Spy Ring 2010: FBI Releases Video, Papers (PHOTOS)

Posted by Ram Kumar Shrestha on October 31, 2011

WASHINGTON — FBI surveillance tapes, photos and documents released Monday show members of a ring of Russian sleeper spies secretly exchanging information and money during a counterintelligence probe that lasted about a decade and ended in the biggest spy swap since the Cold War.

The tapes show a January 2010 shopping trip to Macy’s in New York City’s Herald Square by former New York real estate agent Anna Chapman, whose role in the spy saga turned her into an international celebrity. She bought leggings and tried on hats at the New York department store, investigators wrote in a document, and transmitted coded messages while sitting in a coffee shop.

Scroll down for FBI photos

On another occasion, Chapman is visible in a video setting up her laptop computer at a Barnes and Noble. “Technical coverage indicated that a computer signal began broadcasting at the same time,” noted part of a heavily redacted FBI report on the incident, apparently showing an effort by Chapman to communicate with her handlers.

Posted by Ram Kumar Shrestha on October 31, 2011

Read the rest of this entry »

Gaddafi’s Killer Will Be Prosecuted When Caught, Libya’s Interim Government Says

Posted by Ram Kumar Shrestha on October 30, 2011

He is hiding or hided?

The person responsible for the death of former Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi will be prosecuted, Libya’s interim government has said.

Abdel Hafiz Ghoga, deputy chief of the National Transitional Council (NTC), said that anyone proven to have shot and killed Gaddafi would be brought to justice.

“With regards to Gaddafi, we do not wait for anybody to tell us,” he told the al-Arabiya satellite channel.

He added: “We had already launched an investigation. We have issued a code of ethics in handling of prisoners of war. I am sure that was an individual act and not an act of revolutionaries or the national army. Whoever is responsible for that will be judged and given a fair trial.”

Previously the NTC has insisted that Gaddafi was shot accidentally in ‘crossfire’ after his arrest.

But footage released after the former leader’s death, which showed him wounded and being violently assaulted by his captors, lead to international criticism and calls for an investigation.

Posted by Ram Kumar Shrestha on October 29, 2011

Read the rest of this entry »

Party That Was Banned For Decades Wins First Free Tunisian Elections

Posted by Ram Kumar Shrestha on October 28, 2011

TUNIS, Tunisia — Tunisia’s moderate Islamist party Ennahda, banned for decades, emerged the official victor in the nation’s first free elections, taking 41.47 percent of the vote and 90 of 217 seats in an assembly that will write a new constitution, the electoral commission announced Thursday.

The announcement of final results in Sunday’s landmark voting capped an ebullient period for this small North African country, which inspired the Arab Spring as it moves toward democracy after more than a half-century under one-party systems.

However, protests linked to the party placing fourth in Sunday’s voting erupted in and around Sidi Bouzid, the town where the uprising that drove this North African nation’s strongman from power.

The leader of Areedha Chaabiya, or Popular Petition party, Hachemi Hamdi, announced on national television that he was withdrawing the 19 seats his party won after the electoral commission invalidated six of its lists.

The results carried other surprises, like the second place, and 30 seats, won by the Congress for the Republic party, founded in 2001 by noted human rights activist Moncef Marzouki, a doctor who had lived in exile in Paris.

The third-placed party was the center-left Ettakatol, or the Democratic Forum for Labor and Freedoms, led by Mustapha Ben Jaafar, also a doctor. It won 21 seats in the constituent assembly.
